Glycolic Chemical Peel

A glycolic peel is a treatment used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin using a chemical solution that causes the skin to blister and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

The glycolic peel is the mildest of peel formulas and produces light peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne.

Who is a candidate for a Glycolic Peel?

People with:

  • Superficial wrinkles of the face, neck, upper chest and arms
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Enlarged facial pores
  • Adjunct to Pulsed Light Photofacials
  • Age spots

What are the intended results?

Smoother, youthful skin that is more uniform in color.

What is the procedure?

This procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Light peels do not require any anesthesia. After preparing the skin, a glycolic acid concentration from 40 percent to 70 percent will be applied. Weekly facial peels for a period of about six weeks are typical for most patients.

What is the healing process?

You will be sent home with specific instructions. After light peels, the treated skin turns red or pink and heals without crusting.
